Candyfloss pink, babyblue, peppermint green and soft hues of dreamy lilac and luscious lemon.
Sadly I’m not talking about macaroons or ice cream, but one of my favourite trends this summer, Pastels and Sorbets, which has surely been inspired by these sweet treats.
First up came the jeans at the start of spring and then the cropped versions which have started to creep into stores as the warmer weather appeared, encouraging us to get our legs out, bit by bit. I currently have my eye on Topshop’s Jamie jeans, available in sorbet, lime, peppermint, baby pink, peacock green and mango. Perfect to team with a plain blouse or floaty top.
The pastels trend wouldn’t be complete without a cute summer dress for a garden party, wedding or even a day at the beach. This little beauty from Dorothy Perkins is handy for a day event and is keeping up with this season’s midi trend too.
Don’t forget to pack some shorts in sorbet shades for your holiday too, I’ll be rocking a coral pair with my Vaccines vest top from ASOS in Ibiza.
Of course no outfit would be complete without a bit of arm candy and a pair of steel toe cap heels.
Even cosmetics companies have got in on the act with Barry M and their yummy ice cream shades. I just want to buy them all and line them up on a shelf, like spring ornaments.
It’s one of the easiest trends to work your makeup round as well. Think peaches and cream tones on your cheeks and rosebud lips but keep it minimal. You want the focus to be on your eyes where you can experiment with hues of turquoise, aqua, lilac and pink. Don’t over-do it though, think English Rose like Emma Watson and not David Bowie!
Of course, don’t go overboard with this girlie trend, otherwise you could be a lollipop away from looking like an overdone munchkin from The Wizard Of Oz.
Keep it effortlessly cute and remember if you do decide to get your ice cream fix…watch the strawberry sauce.
